We gave it a B+

Some 40 years after he became king of the Yale Cabaret with his breezy, college-clever literary spoofs starring Yale drama school pal Sigourney Weaver, Christopher Durang shows up at Lincoln Center with Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, a wan comedy mash-up of Chekhovian themes that feels all the shallower for the fancy production values and star power attached to so sophomoric an exercise. Still game, Weaver camps it up, while David Hyde Pearce nobly approximates Russian melancholy. C+
