CBS casts lead for 'Beverly Hills Cop' pilot
CBS has found its Axel Foley, Jr! Comedian Brandon T. Jackson — best known for his role in Tropic Thunder — will play Aaron Foley in Beverly Hills Cop, a sequel in development for fall 2013.
The pilot, which will represent a new chapter from the 1984 blockbuster that starred Eddie Murphy, is from Shawn Ryan (The Shield) and Sony TV. Here is the official logline: “A continuation of the iconic Beverly Hills Cop universe as Axel Foley’s blue-collar police officer son, Aaron, helps take down the criminal elements of the rich and famous, while simultaneously trying to escape the shadow of his larger than life father.” Murphy will appear in the pilot and may recur if the drama goes to series. He’ll also exec produce.
Jackson’s other credits include Tooth Fairy, Fast & Furious, and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
