Robert Pattinson charms on 'Today'
Oh, Robert Pattinson, you gleeful little media troll! It’s always fun when RPattz really lets loose during an on-camera interview — his actual personality seems so different from the brooding, dour hunks he usually plays onscreen. While watching the following clip from The Today Show, you’ll feel a little bad for Savannah Guthrie, who’s just trying to do her job — but you’ll also find it tough not to grin at Pattinson’s cheeky comments. To wit:
On whether it’s awkward to watch a love scene between Kristen Stewart and himself: [Pattinson looks down at his pants, starts brushing them off.] “What have I got all over my legs? I feel like I’ve just fallen in some mud!” He skillfully manages to avoid answering the question altogether.
On the Twilight franchise drawing to a close: “Yeah, it’s the end of my youth. It’s just a slow death from now on.”
On Breaking Dawn — Part 2‘s relationship to Stephenie Meyer’s novel: “We kind of deviate from the book a little bit. So I hope [the fans] don’t stone us for it.”
On almost quitting acting before he was cast in Twilight: “The weird thing about acting: You can’t really quit if you aren’t getting jobs.”
On hating the term “RPattz” with the fire of a thousand midnight suns: “If I could figure out a way to rid of that, it’d be amazing. It does sound like an antacid tablet.”
On whether he and Kristen Stewart are back together: “I want to ask, because we get asked that all the time… who is actually asking? Is it in your contract?”
On whether it’s annoying to be asked personal questions all the time: “It doesn’t have to be. It only becomes personal if you answer it. I could just sit here and talk nonsense about mud on my pantsand getting old. Needing a nap.” That about says it all.
