Not Firefly. Firefly. The DC Comics character, not Fox’s cult-favorite we’ll-keep-writing-about-it-as-long-as-you-keep-reading-it TV show. That wouldn’t make any sense. Firefly is coming to Arrow and he’ll be played by actor Andrew Dunbar in the show’s tenth episode.
The setup: A firefighter named Garfield Lynns is horribly burned on the job three years ago and never recovered, mentally or physically, and transforms into a villain. Expect the Arrow version to be a more grounded and realistic reinterpretation of the DC character, just like how The CW series approached the Green Arrow (though that is a rather amazing illustration of the original Firefly above).
Firefly joins the expanding list of DC Comics characters appearing on The CW’s freshman drama, including Deadshot, China White, Deathstroke and The Huntress (okay, Deathstroke and The Huntress sounds like a great band playing at Emos during South by Southwest). Arrow returns tonight at 8 p.m. on The CW.
