Open Road to distribute Robert Rodriguez saucy sequel 'Machete Kills'
If the lap dance in the newly released photo above is any indication, the Machete sequel Machete Kills, both directed by Robert Rodriguez, will be yet another sassy, violent romp starring perennial tough guy Danny Trejo.
Open Road Films announced Thursday it’s distributing the film, out in wide release in 2013. The second movie in the trilogy, about Trejo as craggy faced ex-Federale agent Machete, hails from a screenplay by Kyle Ward, based on a story by Marcel Rodriguez and Robert Rodriguez. Besides Trejo, the movie stars a long list of known names, including pop diva Lady Gaga, making her acting debut, as well as Oscar nominee Demian Bichir, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Mel Gibson.
The film is produced by Rodriguez, Aaron Kaufman and Iliana Nikolic through QuickDraw Productions, Sergei Bespalov of Aldamisa Films, Alexander Rodnyansky of AR Films and Rick Schwartz of Overnight Films.
In 2010’s Machete, Trejo wrecked havoc seeking revenge on an old boss, with cameos by the likes of a bleached blonde Lindsay Lohan (with her lips looking strangely bee stung). In the sequel, Trejo as Machete is recruited by none other than the President of the United States to take down a “madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet,” according to the Open Road press release.
Apparently vengeful gentlemen such as Machete prefer blondes, as evidenced by the pic of Heard straddling him like a horse, her hair in Veronica Lake waves, wearing a fluffy red dress and Miss San Antonio sash. With Lady Gaga starring as “La Chamaléon,” a sexy blonde who loves guns and wolf fur, the sequel seems chalk full of femme fatales, Rodriguez style.
