In a show full of staged gaffes, sometimes a real one happens.

Seth MacFarlane, who introduced the best reality show host award at the 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night, launched into his schtick as a mic started rising out of the floor near him. He didn’t see it, and in the middle of his intro speech, he was directed to another mic down the stage.

“Oh the mic’s over there,” said MacFarlane, pointing to another part of the stage as the crowd hooted (well, laughed).

“This is what happens when you don’t come to rehearsals,” said MacFarlane, totally channeling the voice of baby Stewie from his show Family Guy.

MacFarlane, we give you credit for handling a ridiculous situation like a total pro.

But could it have all been on purpose? If you think MacFarlane’s mic trip up was all part of the plan, let us know in the comments!
