15 new players. Three returning men who were medically evacuated the last time they played. Two celebrities trying to fly under the radar. And now one episode of Survivor: Philippines in the books. My full recap will be up at 12:30am, but if you already watched tonight’s Survivor premiere and want to sound off about what went down and who who was voted off, then read on below for more. [SPOILER ALERT! Continue reading only if you have already watched the premiere episode of Survivor: Philippines.]
It started with crazy Zane talking about giving flowers to a little girl and then strangling her, and ended with crazy Zane strangling the life out of his own game after telling people to vote him out and then telling us that he didn’t really want to be voted out and was instead playing chess. Don’t worry, that last sentence is not supposed to make any sense, because pretty much nothing Zane did all episode made any sense. As a result, the tire repairman was the first person to be voted out.
Returning players Russell Swan and Jonathan Penner already found themselves in big trouble (Russell for being too bossy, and Penner for…well, being a returning player), but both helped themselves by locating clues to their hidden immunity idols. Mike Skupin, on the other hand, had no such clue, but was invited into an early four person alliance that should protect him in the early going. Other things worth keeping an eye on are baseball star Jeff Kent’s hurt knee, Facts of Life star Lisa Whelchel not fitting in with the younger ladies, and the somewhat unlikely alliance between bartender Malcolm and sex therapist Denise.
What did you think of the premiere? And which players are you already loving and loathing?
