After vowing to do something about the lack of fashion-forward choices for plus-sized women during last year’s awards season, Melissa McCarthy admits she hasn’t made much progress on her planned clothing line.

“I’ve been so busy this past year that I haven’t been able to [launch it],” the Mike & Molly star said at last night’s Emmy week kickoff party, hosted by Audi and Derek Lam. “We’re getting closer to starting a line. I hate to mention it now because people are going to say, ‘You’ve been talking about it for a year!’ but it is getting closer. I’m definitely excited!”

In the meantime, at least the Emmy-nominated actress — who took home the trophy for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series last year and is up for the award again — knows she’ll have something to wear to the ceremony this Sunday night.

“We work [well] as a team,” McCarthy says of her red carpet collaboration with coutourier Daniella Pearl, who is also her design partner on the upcoming clothing line. “I sketched some things out. [The dress] is still being made, but we’re piecing it together.”
