With the season 8 premiere of How I Met Your Mother just one week away, some more casting news for the CBS show is trickling in. Joe Lo Truglio (Superbad, Pineapple Express) has signed on for two episodes of the show, executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas told reporters this morning. The actor will play another partner in Marshall’s law firm.

Lo Truglio was already one degree of separation away from How I Met Your Mother — he guest starred on short-lived TV show Mad Love, with Sarah Chalke, who of course played Ted’s former flame Stella. But now he’s officially in the HIMYM circle, set to appear in episodes 7 and 8 this season.

Season 8 will also feature the return of previous guest stars, including Joe Manganiello and Michael Trucco as Robin’s crush (who finally gets a first name in next week’s premiere!). Since we know Robin is bound for a wedding with Barney, Thomas did assure us that “[Trucco’s character’s] relationship with Robin will delightfully implode during ‘break-up month.'”

And it’s well worth hoping that more fan-favorite guest stars will return.

“We have a plan to bring back many, many of the people we’ve had on the show,” Bays said. “Not to completely steal their idea, but I enjoyed the Seinfeld finale when you saw everyone who’s ever been on the show. We have a way to do that that kind of fits in with the universe of the show, so hopefully there will be a cavalcade of familiar faces as we go into the finale episode.”

No word yet as to whether that final episode will be this season or if a season 9 is on the horizon.

How I Met Your Mother‘s season 8 premiere airs Monday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m.
