The early results are in: The debut of Katie Couric’s new talk show on Monday posted a 2.8 rating/8 share among homes — which catapulted her ahead of competition like Jeff Probst and Ricki Lake.

Katie beat the premieres of Probst’s show by 150% (1.0/3) and Lake by 250% (.8/2). She also posted a higher rating than the second season return of Anderson Cooper’s show by 115% (1.3/4).

The premiere of Katie ranked No. 1 or No. 2 in its time period in each of the top 15 markets, including first place wins in New York and Los Angeles.

It’s only day one, though, and this is a marathon not a sprint. Viewers are still sampling the new offerings in daytime. Stay tuned.
