Season 38 kicks off with Family Guy and Ted funnyman Seth MacFarlane hosting alongside musical guest Frank Ocean. Yes, Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, and Abby Elliott are gone, but luckily — considering it’s an election year and there are also two prime-time Weekend Update Thursday specials scheduled for Sept. 20 and Sept. 27 — the show’s still got its Mitt Romney, Jason Sudeikis. With the first three hosts locked down (Joseph Gordon-Levitt takes the helm in week 2, and James Bond himself, Daniel Craig, will lead the show on Oct. 6), the biggest question left to answer is who will play Romney’s running mate, Paul Ryan, this election season? ”There is a very easy-to-remember rule, which is Lorne makes all final calls,” reports Seth Meyers, head writer and ”Weekend Update” anchor. ”We all get to combine our opinions, which are then tallied and are worth 1 percent of the vote.”

The original late-night comedy sketch show from the one and only Lorne Michaels.
