Angela Bassett drama for fall, take two: The Waiting to Exhale actress — who headlined a Fox drama pilot along with Julian McMahon last spring that failed to get a pickup for this fall — is now attached to a drama that’s in the early stages at NBC.

Bassett will headline and executive produce a legal drama from writer Ben Ripley and executive producers Deb Spera and Maria Grasso. It’s from Sony. Here’s the official logline for the project that revolves around two women: “One is a brilliant yet unsympathetic rainmaker at a powerful NYC law firm, whose world is suddenly and permanently upended by a health issue. Facing this crisis, she makes her condition public and vows to continue her practice with the help of a young brilliant attorney she chooses to be her right hand.”

Last spring, Bassett and McMahon headlined what was dubbed the untitled Karyn Usher project. It focused on the 17-year-old daughter of a CIA operative and her encounters with a rogue agent-assassin.
