We just got the ratings in for A&E’s Coma miniseries and … oh my…

Must…avoid…obvious … pun

Night One of the Coma miniseries put viewers, um … Let’s just say only 1.8 million viewers tuned in Monday night to watch the star-stuffed remake of Robin Cook’s classic medical thriller. Perhaps the holiday weekend was to blame, but the scheduling was part of the network’s strategy. Compare Coma‘s performance to the network’s previous big medical thriller miniseries, 2008’s Andromeda Strain, which delivered 4.8 million viewers for its first night (and proves, once again, that Michael Crichton is better than Robin Cook).

Lauren Ambrose, Steven Pasquale, Geena Davis, Richard Dreyfuss, James Woods and Ellen Burstyn star in Coma, which concludes tonight on A&E.
