Aurora theater shooter made threats earlier this year
The Colorado movie theater shooter told a classmate that he was looking to kill people "when his life was over."
According to published reports, James Holmes made the comment to a University of Colorado student four months before the July 20 shooting at the Century 16 theaters in Aurora. In June, Holmes failed oral examinations in graduate school and was blocked from the university's medical campus in Aurora "after he made threats to a professor at the school," according to court papers.
Holmes, a 24-year-old former Ph.D. student at the University of Colorado, Denver, is charged with killing 12 people and the wounding 58 others during a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises. His attorneys say he is mentally ill.
