Nobody would’ve blamed Robert Pattinson if he’d just spent the past few weeks in bed. But despite nonstop tabloid chatter after his then girlfriend Kristen Stewart was photographed having a ”momentary indiscretion” with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director, Pattinson emerged for a busy New York City press tour in support of his new film Cosmopolis. First up: The Daily Show, where the actor, 26, was greeted with a pint of ice cream (”We’re just a couple of gals talkin’,” quipped Jon Stewart) and politely sidestepped questions about the K-Stew situation. That set the tone for an interview with George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America. ”I’ve never been interested in trying to sell my personal life,” Pattinson said after Stephanopoulos pressed him on the ”elephant in the room.” So what’s next for the ex-lovebirds? Pattinson recently signed on to the arty Western The Rover, the Saddam Hussein-hunt film Mission: Blacklist, and Werner Herzog’s Queen of the Desert. Meanwhile, Stewart, who hasn’t made a public appearance since the furor began, will be at September’s Toronto Film Festival for On the Road (out Dec. 21). Let our great national healing begin!
