Heidi Klum on 'Umizoomi,' Her Kids' TV Obsession -- EXCLUSIVE CLIP
When your parents are model/TV personality Heidi Klum and singer Seal you learn a thing or two about what’s “cool.” But even though Leni, 8, Henry, 6, Johan, 5, and Lou, 2, are on the pulse of worldly trends — everything from Italian Speedos for kids to baby bleach-dyed Mohawks — it’s Nickelodeon’s educational TV series Umizoomi that’s their current main attraction.
“They love Umizoomi,” Klum told us at a preview for her new children’s clothing line Truly Scrumptious for Babies ‘R’ Us (in stores Sept. 15). “I think it’s great. It’s all about math, which is important. They should start from an early age on to learn about math and not be afraid of it. To learn that it’s fun. I do like that they like it.”
Klum scored points with her children when she told them she was teaming up with the computer-animated, musical television series for a spot that will premiere on Nick Jr., Sunday, August 19. During Klum’s appearance one of her high heels is not even with the other and Umi Team member Milli uses her measuring tape ponytails to add inches to it, illustrating the series’ message that math can be used to solve everyday problems.

When they’re not number crunching, the model mom says her brood loves to sing along to German hits and U.S. chart toppers alike, including Carly Rae Jepsen and Katy Perry… or at least they try to. “It’s funny when you hear them sing because it reminds me of when I was younger and I never understood the words either… I’m watching them and what they’re singing doesn’t make sense. Even if it’s Justin Bieber, whatever he sings my children do not sing. They don’t hear that, they hear something different.”
Oh well. It’s better they know their times tables by heart anyhow.
