There have been many adaptations of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations — from Alfonso Cuaron's 1998 modern-day vision with Gwyneth Paltrow and Ethan Hawke, to the more recent PBS miniseries with Gillian Anderson. But the last big-screen version that kept the classic tale firmly rooted in the 1860s hit theaters back in 1946 — and won two Academy Awards.

So must be about time for a new rendition. A trailer for the upcoming Mike Newell-helmed adaptation shows Helena Bonham Carter looking so very Helena Bonham Carter-y in period dress as the wealthy, wicked spinster Miss Havisham. The film, which will be shown at the Toronto International Film Festival this fall, also stars Ralph Fiennes, War Horse's Jeremy Irvine as Pip, and Hagrid himself Robbie Coltrane.
