Okay, this could be either be fun or turn into a helluva hot mess: Uber-writer/producer Ryan Murphy has joined Twitter. Describing himself simply as “showrunner of American Horror Story, Glee and The New Normal,” Murphy’s first tweet today promised “exclusive details” on his shows.

He also posted a shot from the Glee set featuring guest star Kate Hudson, who will play a mentor-type to Rachel (Lea Michele) in the coming season.

By Monday afternoon, Murphy had already amassed 33k followers, not to mention a few defenders who felt the need to protect the newest member of the Twitterverse. This, from Corey Supporter: “Gleeks, I please ask that you do NOT send hate to Ryan Murphy. Just be grateful that he created the show that you love so much.”

Meanwhile, GLEEmazing said this: “Now that Ryan Murphy is on Twitter, let’s get one thing straight… Yeah you have the chance to complain to him, but do it respectfully?”
