Abby in the Summer

Robin Thicke is the latest person to make the jump from music to movies.

The 35-year-old “Love After War” singer has scored a role in the indie flick Abby in the Summer, which also boasts Jaime Pressley, Joey Lauren Adams, Steve Agee, and Frances Conroy.

The movie revolves around an adrenaline junkie (Pressley) who, after being forced to leave her job as a chef, deals with life with her distracted husband (Tygh Runyan) and a former love (enter Thicke, naturally). It is slated to start shooting in Los Angeles this week.

Thicke joins a growing league of musicians who’ve set their sights on Hollywood. There are vintage examples like Elvis Presley, Reba McEntire, and Will Smith, of course, but recent years have brought about career conversions from the likes of Justin Timberlake (who keeps not making music), Law and Order: SVU stalwart Ice-T, Jimi Hendrix-playing Andre 3000 (who hasn’t released an album since Outkast’s Idlewild in 2006), and 50 Cent, who’ll be starring opposite Robert DeNiro in the upcoming crime drama Freelancers.

Are you guys excited to see Thicke make the move to acting? And who are your favorite musicians-turned-actors? Let us know in the comments!
