Looks like Hova took a day off from watching the throne.

Last night in New Orleans, the Flaming Lips finished their eighth live show of the day, thus stealing Jay-Z’s Guinness World Record for the most shows in multiple cities in a 24-hour period.

The Lips began their record-breaking journey by playing a show in Memphis on Wednesday, following that up with a string of gigs along the Mississippi River Delta. By the time the Wayne Coyne-led band wrapped up in New Orleans, they were presented a certificate marking their achievement. In a statement, Coyne described the feat as “an absurd joy.”

Jay’s feat was set in 2006, when he played seven shows (Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas) to promote his album Kingdom Come. The Brooklyn rapper has yet to release a statement on what it feels like to get took by an indie-rock band from Oklahoma, but we’ll keep you updated as the day unfolds.
