Awkward is back, friends. And it was as drama-filled as ever. Here’s what went down: (Don’t read if you haven’t seen the episode, obviously)

To start, Jenna was harboring ill feeling toward her mom following the end-of-season revelation that her mother was the person who’d penned the harsh mystery letter. Her mother sensed the weirdness, but it wasn’t until the end of the episode that she realized Jenna had figured it out. We’ll have to see how that plays out.

Meanwhile, in love triangle city, Jake and Jenna were pretty blissful. He was the Nilla Wafer to her banana pudding. (I recognize that my metaphor sounds mildly sexual; that was not my intention. But I really needed to acknowledge Sadie’s epic one-liner.) It seemed like smooth sailing — until they Jenna found herself once again conflicted at Matty’s New Year Eve’s party, where Matty confronted Jenna and told her that he wanted another shot. He gave her some time to think it over — till midnight, to be exact. What about Jake, you ask? Matty claimed he would understand, saying Jenna was technically his first. Way to totally be a caveman, Matty. Also, rude.

In the end, Matty’s plans didn’t pan out. When the clock struck the big 1-2, she locked lips with Jake. Heartbroken, Matty found comfort in Sadie…‘s lips! Yup, they made out after Sadie confessed to having a big ole crush on Matty and lectured him on tasting the bitter pill of rejection. But her joy was short-lived. Just as the clothes started to come off, drunken Matty passed out. Wah-wah.

So where do we stand? Well, Jenna and Jake became online official, Jake learned that Jenna loved the person before him and didn’t seem to like it, and Lissa and Jenna are now slap-even.

It looks like it’s going to be a great, dramatic, shirtless season. Pleased, Awkward fans? And what was your favorite moment from the premiere?
