Moments after obtaining his marriage license in New York City, Alec Baldwin had a physical confrontation with a Daily News cameraman. The 30 Rock actor tweeted that “a ‘photographer’ almost hit [him] in the face with his camera,” but the newspaper has already posted pictures of the encounter, showing a clearly agitated Baldwin. “He comes after me, starts shoving and punching me — one time, right in the chin,” said Marcus Santos (pictured). “And then he started shoving me, and pushing me.”
A spokesperson for Baldwin gave this version of events: “As Alec and his fiancée were leaving City Hall, a ‘civilian’ walking in front of Alec positioned himself to obstruct the view of a photographer aggressively trying to shoot the couple. The photographer was clearly frustrated, pushed past the bystander and assaulted Alec with his camera. There were no punches thrown, and any subsequent physical contact was simply Alec protecting himself.”
Baldwin continued to comment on the incident on Twitter, saying, “I suppose if the offending paparazzi was wearing a hoodie and I shot him, it would all blow over…”
He continued, “The photographer who assaulted me has (belatedly) gone to a hospital claiming injuries. Colin Myler and his NOTW scams come to NY…”
Myler is an editor at the Daily News, and a former top editor at Rupert Murdoch’s scandal-riddled News of the World.
