Billy Corgan thinks of himself as a great rock savior, insisting that the Pumpkins’ ninth album be heard as one continuous, complete work. If only his curmudgeonly agitation carried over to the music, which never breaks out of a gauzy prison of pleasantness. CKyle Anderson
