Christopher Nolan to produce Wally Pfister's directorial debut
Wally Pfister, the Oscar-winning cinematographer who brought gritty realism to the dream world of Inception and the nightmare world of Gotham City in Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises, will be direct his first feature film, as announced in March.
Now Alcon Entertainment, which is financing the untitled film, has revealed that Pfister’s longtime collaboration with Christopher Nolan will continue: Nolan, along with wife and producing partner Emma Thomas, are on board to executive produce the film.
In a statement, Nolan and Thomas called the film “original and exciting.” The screenplay is written by newcomer Jack Paglen.
Though it’s Pfister’s first time overseeing a feature film, the project, which begins shooting this fall or early winter, won’t be Pfister’s first directing gig. He has been at the helm of several commercials, including PSAs for The Montana Meth Project.
Pfister is taking cues from the secretive Nolan — details on his movie’s plot are being kept under wraps. But who knows? Maybe fans will be able to squeeze a few details out of him when he makes a public appearance at the Los Angeles Film Festival on June 23, where he’s headlining the annual Kodak Focus program.
