Showtime has picked up two new pilots to air in 2013. Ray Donovan stars Liev Schreiber as a Los Angeles-based fixer who is running from his troubled past in “Southie” Boston. Jon Voight, Elliot Gould, and Sherlock Holmes‘ Eddie Marsan also star. Southland‘s Ann Biderman created the show, and Allen Coulter directed the first episode.

Like Schreiber, Michael Sheen makes his series regular debut. He will portray William Masters alongside Lizzy Caplan’s Virginia Johnson in the hour-long period drama Masters of Sex. Master and Johnson, the real-life pioneers in studying the science behind human sexuality, set off the sexual revolution with their findings. Michelle Ashford (The Pacific) created the series based on Thomas Maier’s book of the same name, and Oscar nominee John Madden directed the premiere episode.

Both Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex received a 12-episode order.
