Jim Paratore, the man who founded TMZ and created several television programs such as The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Rosie O’Donnell Show, died of an apparent heart attack on Tuesday, according to TMZ. He was 58. In addition to Ellen and Rosie, Paratore spent much of his career with Warner Bros. Television helping to develop a wide variety of shows, including The Bachelor, Extra and The People’s Court.

Ellen DeGeneres tweeted last night, “My friend, producer and champion Jim Paratore died today. He gave me a chance when no one else would. I love you, Jim.”

Rosie O’Donnell also reacted on Twitter, saying “…he was a great man.”
