Fair warning, don’t click through if you don’t want to hear a SPOILER from New Girl‘s finale. Last night’s season-ender centered on whether Nick (Jake Johnson) would vacate the loft to live with his on-again girlfriend Caroline. After packing up the moving van and taking all the roommates on an odyssey of togetherness, everyone returned home to the loft without Nick. But then! Nick returned and with a fitting fanfare: AC/DC’s “You Shook Me All Night Long.” The roommates each rocked out in their respective rooms, and it was a wonderful close to a strong first season.

But New Girl wasn’t the only recent show to feature solo dancing. The April 29 episode of Girls found Hannah (Lena Dunham) pepping herself up, appropriately, to Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own.” These two scenes got us thinking about our own favorite solo dance party jams. For me, it’s Simply Red’s “Sunrise (Love To Infinity Radio Mix).” Sometimes a girl just needs to bounce around.

What gets my esteemed colleagues going? And what Celine Dion song made not one but two appearances on the list? Click through to find out, then share your favorite below!

Tell me a song that doesn’t set the tone of an epic, uplifting dance party more than the opening mmmms of Dion’s power ballad. And don’t even get me started on when the choir comes in. I go nuts. Every. Time.

In high school, I stole my parents’ mini-van and drove to Montreal with six boys! We listened to this album the whole trip.

Just try to listen without counting along to the “1! 2! 3! 4!” part — you can’t.

Okay, this is definitely an unconventional choice, and it’s really not a dance song at all, but whenever, I’m kind of glum, I don’t fight it. I simply wallow in my baditude in the most over-the-top way possible. I absolutely love jamming out to this song whenever I just wanna let loose. It’s just soooooo angsty and melodramatic, and to just channel that feeling for three minutes actually puts me in a good mood! (I’m not sure how this phenomenon works, but I believe that it is tangentially related to my ability to enjoy reunion episodes of the Real Housewives of New York City.)

Anthony Breznican: Neil Diamond, “Heartlight”

I only dance to Neil Diamond, and even then it’s mostly just miming the lyrics. I used to do it in an adult-sized E.T. costume, but then it shrunk in the wash and now looks more like I’m wearing Kuato from Total Recall.

It’s a perfect for a solo dance party, especially if you’re in the car alone. Have you ever done a solo dance party while driving? SO FUN, even if it might not be that safe.

Denise Warner: Sisqo, “Thong Song”

This one is a little embarrassing, but no matter what kind of bad mood I’m in, shakin that thang like who’s da ish helps. But only if I’m completely alone, with the curtains drawn.

Not to be outdone, Erin Strecker has an entire playlist!

Carly Rae Jepsen, “Call Me Maybe”: Quickly becoming the current iconic dance song, a friend and I individually dance to this when we’re having bad days and type the lyrics to each other over Gchat. Encouraging + Endorphins!

One Direction, “What Makes You Beautiful”: It’s not just for teenagers. I’ve yet to get through the nah-na-na-nahs without a goofy grin on my face.

Bonnie Tyler, “Total Eclipse of the Heart”: This song was designed for hair shaking rocking out. If I hear even a few seconds, I have to perform the entire thing.

Rick James, “Super Freak”: Whenever I hear this song, I think of the ending of “Little Miss Sunshine”, and then what is there to be sad about, ever?

Celine Dion, “I’m Alive”: Embarrassing old woman confession — like her, this track makes me feel like I have wings to fly. [Ed. note: Erin is 23 and should definitely consider inviting Michelle to her next dance party.]

Your turn! What song do you like to groove on alone, PopWatchers?
