Fox’s new dating show Take Me Out has landed a host: George Lopez will lead the way on the series that follows 30 single women as they search for a match when it premieres June 7 at 8 p.m. In fact, Lopez will be something more of a host — he’ll serve as the show’s matchmaker between the women and the bachelors who are vying for the chance to take one of the ladies out on a dream date. Lopez’s last big TV hosting gig was his own late-night talk show Lopez Tonight, which was cancelled by TBS last August.

“I am thrilled to be hosting such an entertaining new series,” Lopez said in a statement. “Anything can happen on a show like Take Me Out, and I’m looking forward to the excitement.”

Over four rounds in a studio, the female contestants of Take Me Out meet a variety of suitors and can choose to keep the light on at their podium, signifying their spark for the guy is still there, or turn it off when the attraction fizzles. After several rounds, the bachelor with the most women still interested in him gets to turn the tables, asking two women one make-or-break question. The winning woman immediately joins her suitor for a romantic getaway while the remaining 29 ladies stick around for another week and another chance at love.

Take Me Out is produced by the minds behind American Idol and is based on a successful international format.
