In a summer filled with big blockbuster movies that are shrouded in mystery — who are the Avengers fighting? What’s Joseph Gordon-Levitt doing in Dark Knight Rises? Where is the three-breasted mutant prostitute in the Total Recall remake? — Ridley Scott’s Prometheus takes the prize for the most opaque production. A series of teasers and trailers have confirmed that the movie is some sort of reboot/prequel/spin-off from Alien (or, in the modern Hollywood lingo, a “prebootspin.”)

A fascinating new clip for the movie focuses on Michael Fassbender’s character, “David” — an artificial lifeform in the grand tradition of Ash and Bishop from Alien and Aliens, not to mention the somewhat less grand tradition of Winona Ryder in Alien Resurrec4ion.

“I can do almost anything that can be asked of me,” says David. “I can carry out directives that my human counterparts might find distressing or unethical, BWWWAAAANNNGGGG.” Sorry, I just added in that Inception Foghorn for dramatic effect. In conclusion, Prometheus continues to look awesome. Watch the clip:
