Aaron Sorkin adds 'Social Network' star to HBO drama -- EXCLUSIVE
Aaron Sorkin likes to keep his friends close whenever he starts a new gig. (See: repeat appearances for actors like Martin Sheen, Josh Malina and Bradley Whitford in projects like The American President, The West Wing and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip). And he'll continue the tradition in his new HBO drama The Newsroom.
EW has learned exclusively that Jesse Eisenberg — who played Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network, which earned Sorkin an Oscar for writing — has a small voiceover role in the premiere episode that bows June 24. His voice is easily recognized as a key "newsmaker."
Any chance Andrew Garfield could be next, Aaron?
The Newsroom is about a fictitious cable news network that stars Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterston, Thomas Sadoski and Olivia Munn. It follows a news anchor (Daniels), his new executive producer (Mortimer), his newsroom staff (Alison Pill, John Gallagher, Jr., Dev Patel, Munn and Sadoski) and their boss (Waterston).
