ABC keeping 'General Hospital,' cancels 'Revolution'
A rare bit of good news for soap fans: ABC is keeping General Hospital — and dumping The Revolution, one of the unscripted shows that replaced its controversially cancelled soaps.
With Katie Couric’s new daytime talk show Katie set to take over General Hospital‘s slot in the fall on ABC stations, it seemed like the soap would soon meet the same fate as All My Children and One Life to Live. Now ABC will keep General Hospital around, freeing up some space by getting rid of failing talk show Revolution. ABC’s other new daytime show, The Chew, will stick around.
The network will also expand Good Morning America into afternoons for nine weeks during the summer. The episodes are tentatively titled GMA in the Afternoon and will air leading up to Couric’s daytime show Katie taking over the slot.
