Theories upon theories already exist about why Det. Michael Britten (Jason Isaacs) experiences dual realities on Awake, and if you are happily aboard the hypothesis train, get ready for a big stop.

Before I watched the exclusive clip below, one possibility that had never crossed my mind was that this phenomena was not the product of some massive supernatural occurrence. Because of the nature of the show, I’d never once put the events Michael has experienced in a realistic context. There had to be a bigger plan/reason/explanation. But what if we’ve all been over-thinking this?

In the video, Dr. Lee (BD Wong) talks some interns through a case of a schizophrenic man, who, as you’ll hear, has more than a few similarities with Michael, leaving us to wonder, what if it’s really that simple?!

That’s not likely, I suspect. But, at the very least, I wonder what will come from this parallel being shown to viewers. Is this what they want us to think? Is it a clue? A red herring? A sign that he’s headed toward the deep end? WHO CAN WE TRUST!?! Ehem… Enjoy the video below.
