Bryan Fuller’s Hannibal has found its director.

David Slade (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) has been hired to direct the first episode of NBC’s small-screen take on Thomas Harris’ notorious serial killer, plus he’ll serve as an executive producer on the pilot. The director also shot the pilot for NBC’s Awake this year, as well as the film 30 Days of Night.

Hannibal has been given a 13-episode direct-to-series order. Hugh Dancy stars as FBI profiler Will Graham (the title character has not yet been cast). While working a perplexing case of disappearing female college students, Graham enlists the help of Baltimore psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter — unaware that he’s actually a cannibalistic murderer.
