David Strathairn (Alphas) is set to star opposite Jessica Chastain (The Help) in the upcoming play The Heiress, which opens on Broadway this fall, the show’s producers announced today.

The play, based on the Henry James novel Washington Square, tells the story of a young woman whose rich father suspects that her lover is out for her money. Chastain is set to star as the titular heiress Catherine Sloper, with Strathairn starring as her father, Dr. Austin Sloper (played in the 1949 film by Olivia de Havilland and Ralph Richardson, respectively).

Strathairn has a list of theatrical credits, including appearances on Broadway in Einstein and the Polar Bear, The Three Sisters, Dance of Death and Salome.
