Finally, a new gig for Dr. Christian Troy: Julian McMahon, best known for playing a sex-starved plastic surgeon on Nip/Tuck, is in final negotiations for the role of a longtime CIA operative in an untitled drama pilot about spies at Fox.

Angela Bassett is also putting the finishing touches on her deal to play the director of the CIA in the project from Karyn Usher (Prison Break, Bones). It’s about an ophaned 17-year-old daughter of a CIA operative who encounters a mysterious rogue agent-assassin (McMahon) who serves as both her surrogate father and professional mentor in the spy world. (Think last year’s Focus movie Hanna that starred Eric Bana, Saoirse Ronan, and Cate Blanchett).

Newcomer Saxon Sharbino will play the young gal named Jane.

Bassett’s last network gig was playing Dr. Cate Banefield on ER.
