It’s a not-so-secret secret that Apple will introduce the iPad3 today at a company event at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, but there’s still the mystery of what your new best friend (let’s be honest here) will be bringing to the table. Er, tablet.

The tech world is buzzing with what could be and what they are hoping for with the latest incarnation of the iPad. Or, as The Washington Post points out, will likely be called the “iPad HD.” The Los Angeles Times notes, “Apple will today unveil its next iPad, with a higher resolution screen, upgraded processor, (hopefully) better cameras and (possibly) 4G LTE connectivity,” while notes that all this hoopla will culminate with even more hoopla on Friday, March 16, for “a big Apple Store event.” In equally vague terms, you should prepare to get your camping gear ready to sleep outside of your local Apple Store in the next nine days.

While it seems like that possibly groundbreaking new touchscreen is what has techies looking at their iPad2 with a kind of distant admiration, we’ll only really find out what’s in store when the show starts today at 10 a.m. PT time. (As long as it’s not this, we should all be pretty psyched.) Check back into EW for updates regarding the new iPad.

What are you hoping-expecting for the iPad3, PopWatchers? Will you be lining up for one, or does your iPad2 still make you plenty happy? Share in the comments section below.
