'American Idol' odds: Who's the favorite?
American Idol ‘s Top 13 performers haven’t even set foot on stage to sing as finalists, but the Las Vegas oddsmakers have already picked a winner — and the unfortunate contestant they believe is likely to go home Thursday night.
It is bad news for Idol fans who were hoping to finally see a female take the crown for the first time since Jordin Sparks cried as the confetti fell in 2007. Currently in the lead to take it all is strummer Phillip Phillips, whose acoustic takes on pop classics have made him a favorite. This morning, sports site Bovada has him favored to win with 7/2 odds.
Jessica Sanchez is second behind Phillip with 4/1 odds. The big voiced teen has been wowing Idol fans with impressive covers of tunes by Jennifer Hudson and Celine Dion. Colton Dixon is third, at 7/1. The skunk-haired rocker’s antics last week — jumping on top of a piano during a performance of Paramore’s “Decode” — definitely got the judges’ and the viewer’s attention.
Depending on where you look, an aggregate of several betting sites places Liverpool songstress, Hollie Cavanagh, in fourth place, while Bovada has the bluesy Elise Testone in that spot at 15/2. Teen athlete, Shannon Magrane, is also rated a 15/2 chance. Yet another betting site, Gambling Kingz has country rocker, Skyler Laine, rounding out the top 5.
The Idol who needs to practice his goodbye song extra hard this week? Jennifer Lopez’s wildcard pick, Jeremy Rosado, could be singing his swan song come Thursday, according to oddsmakers. The emotional doctor’s assistant from Florida is a 30/1 long-shot to win. He tweeted to his fans today, “Well#teamjeremy its tonight! I’m gonna get ready and I hope and pray everyone Votes:) Remember pls tell some you know to vote love U GB”
Perhaps Jeremy has seen the odds.
