The Peacock eyes Thomas Harris's novel for a small-screen riff
An impossibly brilliant yet unorthodox outsider helps the police solve murders. Sounds like half of the shows already on TV, right? Not if the deductive genius is Hannibal Lecter, the cannibal villain from the Oscar-winning film The Silence of the Lambs. The psycho psychiatrist is set to make his small-screen debut next season on NBC, which has given a 13-episode direct-to-series order for Hannibal, a drama based on Thomas Harris‘ best-selling novels. Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller‘s pilot script has FBI crime profiler Will Graham consulting Dr. Lecter on cases, unaware that he’s responsible for a slew of grisly — and tasty — killings of his own.
