Bill Maher’s contrarian politics have never disguised his leanings toward Democrats, but he’s now officially supporting President Obama in his reelection bid. The irreverent host of HBO’s political-comedy show, Real Time With Bill Maher, announced from the stage at last night’s Yahoo! comedy special in San Jose that he’d be donating $1 million to Obama’s SuperPac, Priorities USA Action. He tweeted afterwards, “Most important advice I ever got in show business, as true today as then: always bring ur wallet onstage.”

I suppose it would be unreasonable to expect one late-night comic to support a rival, but I think the million would’ve been better spent going to Colbert’s superPAC, don’t you agree?
