It’s a teaser … for a trailer.

And yes, it’s only 17 seconds long, but for superhero fans starving for news about The Avengers, this short clip from Sunday’s Super Bowl trailer is a welcome morsel.

The clip (see it after the jump) was revealed after a Twitter live-chat today, with Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg, and writer-director Joss Whedon providing a few A’s to their fans’ many Q’s.

The responses weren’t always so serious, but there was some good debunking (that rumor about Spider-Man being in the film…? False.) A little more news came out afterward: The Avengers will be remastered into IMAX 3-D for its May 4 debut. So prepare your eyeballs for that.

Click through to watch the preview clip.

Wait, there’s more! Check out the links below the clip for tweets from the law firm of Whedon, Jackson, Hiddleston, and Gregg.

Whedon didn’t speak to fans from his own Twitter handle, but instead used the film’s official presence, @Avengers. Here’s what he had to say (can you spot the sarcasm, kids?):

@DerfelMacklin: Was there an Avenger you wanted to put in the movie but couldn’t make it work for whatever reason, be it budget or time?

@Avengers: Whedon — “I’m a fan of the Wasp. She’s goofy and sting-y.”

@VicvegaChi: Who was the jokester on the set? There is always one on every movie shoot.

@Avengers: Whedon — “I had the jokester put down on day 3.”

@Poni_Boy: Has the ante been upped on Easter Eggs? And if so, how attentive will movie goers have to be to stop them?

@Avengers: Whedon — “There will be actual dyed eggs. Try to find them all!”

@matmanphoto What about the Spider-man cameo in #Avengers ?

@Avengers: Whedon — “There is no Spider-Man cameo. But The Avengers do turn off the dark.”

@MidwestPhoto: Is the movie’s plot going to reference any classic Avengers stories or be a more “ulitmate-ized” story?

@Avengers: Whedon — “It’s a combo platter: classic, Ultimate, plus a little Richie Rich & Mastering the Art of French Cooking.”

@impalergeneral: Will the female characters, esp. Black Widow, remind the boys how strong they are, and how?

@Avengers: Whedon — “The females will spend their time whimpering and baking and being befuddled by math.” #sarcasm

@NatashaArsenaul: What was your first reaction to getting the chance to direct the #Avengers?

@Avengers: Whedon — “What moron would take a job that hard? Show me this moron, so that I may mock him.”

@denimorse: Can you enjoy #Avengers without seeing all the other films?

@Avengers: Whedon — “You don’t need to see any @Marvel movies to enjoy #Avengers! But you need to see Steel Magnolias, like, six times.”

@TerrHimself: Most Difficult and Best things about filming (part) of The #Avengers in NYC?

@Avengers: Whedon — “Who gets the last bagel.”

@Ponzi_Brandao: Can we expect some bromance between Captain America and Iron Man?

@Avengers: Whedon — “Not as long as there’s two of them and only one bagel. Heroes need carbs.”

@247Leslie: How long did it take to shoot the movie?

@Avengers: Whedon — “I started when I was 12 and should be done by May 3rd at 11:59 pm.”

Okay, maybe this picture of Samuel L. Jackson participating in The Avengers live-tweet isn’t meant to be a flip-off, but … he referred to fans of the movie as “MAVENGERFUQQAS!” so anything is possible.

Here’s what else the Nick Fury actor had to say:

@eaobrien11: How much of your portrayal is based on comics Nick Fury and how much of Nick Fury is based on you?

@SamuelLJackson: There’s a lot of Nick Fury in me already.

@GeoCollins What was your biggest challenge in playing Fury in the #Avengers ?

@SamuelLJackson: Losing the weight to fit my costume & keep it off.

@JustSeraphina: How much of your own stunts did you do? How did you prepare for all the physical work?

@SamuelLJackson: As much as the insurance company allowed. I prepped by working out a bit?

@Crimson5229: Who was your first favorite superhero?

@SamuelLJackson: The Flash.

@KiraKovalevsky: Eye patch did not interfere during the filming?

@SamuelLJackson: Not a bit. Makes me feel cool!

@akarui_hi: What do you consider your character’s theme song for The #Avengers?

@SamuelLJackson: Born Free/ Hendrix

@OhJara: Nick Fury or Mace Windu?

@SamuelLJackson: Jedi or mortal? You be the judge!

Tom Hiddleston seemed to be having a grand old time interacting with fans of The Avengers, judging by this pic @Avengers sent out of him manning the computer. He also continued well beyond the appointed time, quoting Shakespeare references for his character and offering up music suggestions.

In the end, he tweeted out this .gif of his villainous character flying through the streets of New York, bombing the hell out of the place.

Here’s what Loki, the god of chaos and trickery, had to say…

@GeoCollins: What was your biggest challenge in playing Loki in the #Avengers ?

@twhiddleston: The biggest challenge was magnifying his menace without losing touch of his emotional truth. Keeping his chaos honest!

@terrigirl_md: You’ve said that in you listened to Prodigy for Loki. What did you listen to this time to get ready for the #Avengers?

@twhiddleston: “Archangel”, by a band called Burial. And not a little of Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack compositions.

@NatashaArsenaul: In Thor, you had lots of emotions. In #Avengers, was there a day where you were devastated emotionally after “cut”?

Credit: Lewis Jacobs/NBC

@twhiddleston: In all honesty, yes. Sometimes you wake up feeling warm and sunny, but the scene requires hatefulness and spite. You have to reach deeper. And stay aware of the fact that the emotions are true, but they’re not mine.

@Illithya: Funniest moment on #Avengers set? :-)

@twhiddleston: Getting the giggles when the Hulk smashed. Joss got the giggles too. I was hopeless.

@Badgerminion: Might we see a more mischievous (rather than mostly just evil) Loki in the #Avengers ?

@twhiddleston: ENTIRELY. More mischievous. More evil. More hubristic. More delusional. More damaged. More badass.

@ThiagoSiQueiraF: In the end of “Thor”, we see that Thor still loves his brother and misses him a lot. Does Loki feels the same?

@twhiddleston: The opposite of love is not hate but indifference. And Loki hates his brother.

@4Defenestration: Who was the funnest #Avenger to fight?

@twhiddleston: Brother-to-brother is intense. Hemsworth is a giant, but we trust each other implicitly as actors… which means we can really commit to the physicality of the choreography, and imbue it with emotion.

@Ambika81: Scariest moment on set? Any injuries?

@twhiddleston: I smashed my elbow when facing down the great green incarnation of rage. I guess the Hulk really does smash.

@DAR_Codex: Shakespeare quote to describe Loki?

@twhiddleston: “O beware my lord of jealousy, it is the green eyed monster that doth mock the meat it feeds on.” (Othello) … Or: “Stand up for bastards!” (King Lear)

Clark Gregg has been the glue that holds the various Marvel movies together, with his bureaucratic fussbudget Agent Coulson weaving together The Avengers on behalf of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. But alas, he doesn’t seem to get what every actor in a comic book movie really desires…a toy version of himself.

@EAST_CHAPTER: Will you have an action figure released? If not, are you jealous?

@clarkgregg: No Coulson action figure. Very jealous.

@Reggicidal: Where does Coulson buy his suits?

@clarkgregg: Dolce has a SHIELD outlet

@EvyKei: Have you ever wanted to wear Iron Man suit?

@clarkgregg: Wearing it now.

@zamkz33: Please can you tell me what happened with The Wasp? Thank you.

@clarkgregg: Coulson and Wasp broke up. It was very painful.

@Josh_Tippey: Funniest experience with a fan?

@clarkgregg May have signed some large boobs at New York Comic Con.

@Robert_H_Gwinn : Clark Gregg: Love your Character … Are you going to see more action in The Avengers?

@clarkgregg: Everybody sees more action in The Avengers. Hell, the audience even has to fight the bad guys.

@auntiesunshine: Clark Gregg/Joss Whedon TV series? Please?

@clarkgregg: Great idea. Asking him now. Joss????
