Glee and New Girl help Fox to win on Tuesday
An excruciating month (and then some) of reruns on Fox finally came to end on Tuesday, where originals of New Girl and Glee helped the network to win the night among adults 18-49.
Though it was even with its last original five weeks ago, Glee earned a 3.0 rating/8 share in the demo, the second-highest rated show of the night behind New Girl, which posted a 3.4/8 — up 3% from its last original. The latter show featuring Zooey Deschanel not only won its half hour with the key demo, but also ruled in adults 18-34 and teens. Then again, it helped tremendously that CBS aired repeats of NCIS and NCIS: LA — two shows that traditionally kick butt in their timeslots. But hey, let Finnchel have their moment in the sun! It was a big night for the teenage lovers.
In viewers, Glee averaged 7.4 million while New Girl lured 6.9 million. An original of Raising Hope got 5.1 million.
NBC also benefitted from the lack of fresh episodes on CBS, though its shows posted some unfortunate lows. The Biggest Loser earned a 2.3/6, down 4% from last week and tied as its season low, while Parenthood was flat with last week at a 1.7/5. The shows averaged 6.6 million and 4.9 million, respectively.
ABC was third in the demo with an original of Last Man Standing earning a 2.6/7, up 24% from last week’s season low, and 8.5 million. That was a repeat of Tim Allen at 8:30 (buh-bye, Work It!), followed by an original of Celebrity Wife Swap, which earned a 2.1/5 and 5.8 million. Body of Proof got a 1.6/4 and 7.8 million.
Even though it was a rerun, Tuesday’s episode of NCIS was the most-watched show of the night at 13 million. Good God. It also earned a 10.1/18 share in adults 50-plus. Double good God. Your parents must really hate to hear the kids sing the hits.
