EW has confirmed that Matthew Lillard is in negotiations to join Clint Eastwood in the new film Trouble With the Curve, directed by Robert Lorenz. Lillard, who broke through in Wes Craven’s Scream (1996), has most recently been seen in the Golden Globe-winning The Descendants opposite George Clooney. In Trouble With the Curve, Lillard will play a baseball scout opposite Eastwood, a Warner Bros. rep told EW. The film follows Eastwood’s character, an aging scout coping with blindness, on a trip to Atlanta to evaluate a player. The film will start production in early March. Variety reported in November that Eastwood’s daughter will be played by Amy Adams.

Director Lorenz is Eastwood’s longtime producing partner; the duo have worked together on Million Dollar Baby and Mystic River.
