George Clooney lands a ''Monument''-al next role, ''Star Trek'' hires ''Sherlock'' star Benedict Cumberbatch, and more

George Clooney will star in and direct the book-based feature The Monuments Men, the true-life story of a band of art experts who seek out work pilfered by the Nazis during World War II.

Benedict Cumberbatch (War Horse) and Nazneen Contractor (24) have joined the cast of the Star Trek sequel, due May 2013.

Netflix will make all eight episodes of its first original series, Lilyhammer, available for streaming when it premieres Feb. 6. The show stars Steven Van Zandt as a gangster who moves to Norway as part of the Witness Protection Program. ”He didn’t plan on leaving his career behind,” Van Zandt says. ”[But] any crime he commits over there, he’s not protected.”
