After a brief hiatus following the Words With Friends plane skirmish in December, 30 Rock star Alec Baldwin is back on Twitter in full force — posting about politics, conversing back and forth with his yoga teacher girlfriend @hilariathomas, and opining on his Super Bowl picks.  While keeping @alecbaldwin, he’s shortened the name that appears on his Twitter page to simply, “AB.”

On Saturday, he quietly tweeted “Back on Twitter” and since has resumed a steady pace of comments, retweets, and self-promotion: “30 Rock, Season 6, begins Thursday. Now that Kim Jong Il is dead, what’s up?”

NBC said Saturday at the Television Critics Association press tour that Baldwin had renewed his deal to stay on 30 Rock through next season.

In early December, Baldwin was kicked off a plane for playing the popular game Words With Friends and tweeted “Flight attendant on American reamed me out 4 playing WORDS W FRIENDS while we sat at the gate, not moving. #nowonderamericaairisbankrupt.” The fallout had him deleting his twitter account and he nearly lost an advertising deal with supermarket chain Wegman’s.
