HBO films is developing a biopic about former Washington D.C. mayor Marion Barry, EW has confirmed.

Spike Lee is currently attached to direct the project, while his frequent writing partner John Ridley is penning the script. Eddie Murphy is attached to star as Barry, who (in)famously served two separate terms as mayor from 1979-1991 and 1995-1999.
