'America's Next Top Model' controversy
SPOILER ALERT… America’s Next Top Model crowned a winner to its all-star season last night, but not without controversy and more than a little mystery. Lisa D’Amato edged Allison Harvard after Angelea Preston was disqualified for unexplained reasons.
After the three finalists competed in a Cover Girl commercial, a beach photo shoot for Vogue Italia in Crete, and a runway show that felt more like a high-heeled triathlon, the ladies were summoned back to Los Angeles to face the judges. Nigel Barker and host Tyra Banks cryptically announced that Preston was out for some violation of contest rules. Later, in a statement, the CW said: “After production wrapped on the current cycle of America’s Next Top Model, we learned information that made Angelea ineligible and she was subsequently disqualified from the competition. As a result, new scenes were filmed to address this for the audience during the finale.”
So… did that mean that Preston had initially been crowned the champion, and her violation — did she leak spoilers on her Facebook page? — forced the show to re-shoot its ending?
