When photos circulated last week showing actress Eva Mendes on the Paris set of the film Holly Motors sporting a beehive hairdo and thick cat’s-eye mascara, the blogosphere instantly took note of her remarkable resemblance to the late singer Amy Winehouse. But while Mendes’ rep says he ”can’t divulge any details about her character in the film,” Holly Motors is no Winehouse biopic. Directed by Leos Carax and reportedly slated for release next spring, the small French drama stars Denis Lavant as a man moving between parallel lives, with Mendes appearing briefly as a woman from his past.
