If gracing the cover of Page Six Magazine is a barometer for pop culture omnipresence, then it’s time to finally accept the fact that the Lohan family is never going away. Lindsay’s twiggy younger sister Ali, who now wishes to be called Aliana, used the December issue of the magazine as a vehicle to finally address the plastic surgery rumors that have been plaguing the nation since roughly three months ago. Ali, who is 17 years old, maintains that the rumors are completely false.
“I was cracking up,” she said of the Internet frenzy. “Because, like, when would I do that? I’m 17 years old.” 17 is the new 50, Ali. Actually, I have personally sustained my belief that Lohan is telling the truth ever since her thinned-out pictures hit the Interwebs last summer. This is partly because I know that young girls’ bodies change and frequently thin out during the late teenage years, but also because I don’t think I can live in a world where 17-year-olds get face-lifts. Her next comments, however, are deeply unsettling.
“That’s not legal!” she added. “I would need my mother’s signature, and do you think my mom would ever sign off on that? No!” Er, the woman who once referred to herself as the White Oprah? Dina, if you remember, put a then 14-year-old Ali on the reality train wreck that was Living Lohan in 2008. Celebrity is everything to this women. It’s not a leap to believe she might just support a lift and a tuck to help her daughter’s burgeoning modeling career. I just have to hope that Ali is smart enough to learn from Lindsay’s mistakes and say no, just as she claims she has done with drugs.
“I just say no,” she assured Page Six. “I’m lucky enough that I had my sister to learn from. I’ve seen people do it to her, so I’ve learned to be like, ‘That’s stupid, no.’ That’s why me and Lindsay are also so close, because we’re able to talk about those things together.”
What do you think, PopWatchers? Is Ali going down the same path as Lindsay, or has she emerged as the superior Lohan? Are you interested enough to pick up Page Six to actually read about it?
