Even after her blatant Fiat shill during Sunday’s American Music Awards, Jennifer Lopez is on the receiving end of some heat about the ads she purportedly filmed in her native Bronx for the car company. The Smoking Gun first claimed that J. Lo used a body double for the “My World” commercial and never, in fact, returned home for the shoot. We reached out to Fiat, who affirmed the videos were “filmed in the Bronx as well as outside locations.” See J. Lo’s “My World” commercial and read Fiat’s full statement below.

A representative from Fiat released this statement:

“Both commercials featuring Jennifer Lopez were indeed filmed in the Bronx as well as outside locations. As you may know, in today’s world, people are increasingly mobile and their work takes them to a variety of locations. As a result, we took the opportunity to film wherever Ms. Lopez was working at the time to accommodate her schedule. The commercial tells the story of how the simple elements of our upbringing can help explain who we are, where we’re going and serve as a source of inspiration to achieve our goals in life. One does not need to be in a specific location to be inspired or continue to be inspired.”

What do you think, PopWatchers? Does Fiat’s statement seem a little slippery? Does  it matter to you that J. Lo might not have gone back to the block for her ads? Or do you think this is an unnecessary call-out?
