Actress Lauren Potter, 21, who plays Becky on Glee, will be appointed by Barack Obama as a member of the President’s Committee for People With Intellectual Disabilities. Potter, who has Down syndrome, responded, ”It is important to me that people with intellectual disabilities are represented and treated fairly.”
Jerry O’Connell, 37, and Rebecca Romijn, 39, who married in 2007, renewed their vows on Nov. 11 in New York City…. My Name Is Earl star Jason Lee, 41, and wife Ceren Alkac also renewed their vows on Nov. 11, in Los Angeles. They wed in 2008.
Star Trek actress Zoë Saldana, 33, and fiancé Keith Britton, 35, have amicably separated after 11 years together…. Pretty Little Liars star Holly Marie Combs, 37, reportedly filed for divorce from her husband of seven years, David Donoho.
Director Julie Taymor, 58, who departed the Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark in March, filed suit against the producers of the show on Nov. 8, claiming that she has not been properly paid for work that she contributed to the show as a writer. She believes she is owed at least $1 million. However, lead producers for the show beg to differ, saying, ”The production has indeed compensated Ms. Taymor for her contribution as a co–book writer.”
Cartoonist Bil Keane, who drew the popular Family Circus comic for 51 years, died on Nov. 8 at his home in Paradise Valley, Ariz. He was 89…. Comedy writer Hal Kanter passed away from natural causes on Nov. 6 at the age of 92. Kanter helped write the Oscar telecast, for which he won two Emmys, for more than 30 years.
